Walk through the routine together
Ask your parents to describe a normal morning. Look for places where the room gets in their way, rather than making decisions for them.
Seven places to look
1. Tub or shower entry. 2. Grab-bar support. 3. Seating. 4. Wet-floor traction. 5. Lighting. 6. Reach to towels and controls. 7. Space through the doorway. Write down questions and discuss installation with a qualified professional.
Choose one practical next step
Start with the concern your parents most want to address. For structural changes or support equipment, ask an appropriate professional to assess the space and the person’s needs.
